Grand Hotel Timeo

Set high in the rocky hills on the east coast of Sicily, in the heart of Taormina, Grand Hotel Timeo has long been a favorite destination of glamorous European and Hollywood stars, from Sophia Loren to Marcello Mastroianni and from Audrey Hepburn to Elizabeth Taylor. As the first hotel to be built in Taormina, it naturally sits in the most perfect location, directly in front of the Greek Theatre and with sweeping views of the coastline and majestic Mount Etna. At night, the lights twinkling in Capo Taormina—the seaside area of the town - and the curve of the bay of Giardini Naxos are inexpressibly beautiful. Accommodations are set in the central hotel complex and the Villa Flora, a charming country house located a short distance from the main hotel. Most rooms offer balconies with views of the coastline, and the suites evoke the opulent Italian Baroque style. Boasting one of the most magical backdrops, the restaurant matches its location with spectacular Sicilian and Mediterranean cuisine. For light snacks, brick-oven pizzas, a salad buffet, and a selection of freshly caught fish, visit the Pool Snack Restaurant, located poolside. Grand Hotel Timeo shares facilities, including restaurants, bars, swimming pools, and a beach with Villa Sant'Andrea.

Villa Athena

The only 5-star hotel situated in the Archaeological Park of the Valley of the Temples, which UNESCO has declared a world heritage site, Villa Athena stands only two hundred yards from the Temple of Concordia. The refined and elegant furnishings of Villa Athena seem to blend with the comfort of the splendid suites which overlook the temples and the park of centuries old olive trees. Visit the Valley of the Temples at night when these temples are floodlit, one of the most evocative sights in Sicily. If you have the time, two minor sights include the 13th-century church, Abbazia di Santo Spirito, and the Museo Regionale Archeologico.

Terre di Himera

Terre di Himera is a rural retreat which preserves the characteristics of a Sicilian farmhouse. A large patio, called a “pinnata,” connects the inside, cool and comfortable even in the summer heat, with the sun-drenched countryside. The house is built of exposed local stone with wooden beams. Inside are six rooms with elegant and comfortable amenities, all independent and opening directly onto the garden. Each room has its own style and history. Furniture from all over the island was chosen and restored for each room, and individually selected to provide a unique and personal atmosphere. The highlight of your stay will be the excellent cuisine by your hosts Maria and Fabrizio using fresh local ingredients. Use the hotel as

a base to explore the ancient Greek city of Himera, or the

museums, churches, and history of Palermo, Monreale,

and Cefalu.
